Helsinki coCreationcamp takes place, in the context on World Design Capital 2012, thanks to the partners in Finland, such as the Embassy of Belgium and Laurea Univ., as well as with the partnership of the Belgian institutions WBDM, AWEX and WBI.

Wallonie-Bruxelles Design/Mode (WBDM)

Wallonia-Brussels Design/Mode (WBDM) is a governmental agency for the promotion of design and fashion, which aims to increase the international reputation of designers from Wallonia and Brussels.

Through a constant participation in major tradeshows, exhibitions and conferences, WBDM ’s mission is to increase networking and business opportunities for Belgian design and fashion talent in the international market.

The agency concurrently emanates from Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI), the Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (AWEX) and the Ministry of the French-speaking Community – Contemporary Arts Department.

The Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (AWEX) is the Wallonia Region of Belgium’s government agency in charge of foreign trade promotion and foreign investment attraction.

The agency has a worldwide network of 105 Economic and Trade Attachés.

As a foreign trade agency, AWEX carries out a mission of promotion and information for the benefit of both Wallonia and the foreign business community.

As a foreign investment agency, AWEX has an overall responsibility for the attraction of foreign investment in Wallonia. This includes seeking out and providing information to potential foreign investors. The Agency also offers a pro-active follow-up service to investors already established in Wallonia. In addition, it is in charge of identifying new foreign investors for the acquisition of industrial sites under restructuring process.

Wallonia – Brussels International (WBI)

The actions of Wallonia-Brussels abroad naturally involve the diplomatic representations of the Belgian State. However, Wallonia-Brussels also has its own representations with diplomatic status. In addition to a network of almost a hundred Walloon economic and commercial attachés covering the whole world, Wallonia-Brussels is represented abroad and within the organisations of the European Union through its Delegations.

Exclusive competencies of the French Community of Wallonia-Brussels:

Cultural matters (fine arts, cinema, radio, television, libraries, youth, etc.); Social matters (promotion of health, social assistance, care of the elderly); education and fundamental research; use of languages.

All these competencies translate into actual involvement on the international level, as communities and regions are entitled to conclude international treaties.

Private corporations like Philips, Procter & Gamble, Nokia, ... are opening up innovation modalities, especially in the R&D phases. A number of companies are also looking to tap into the creative input at the market level. In parallel, public institutions in Denmark, in Finland, ... are exploring new collaboration models, empowering and engaging everyday people.

Some questions which will be investigated during the coCreationcamp are :
How can we define value, specifically in systems where co-creation is key?
Can value be defined upfront before engaging in the process?
How can sustainable and systemic input and value be measured?
Can co-creation offer new ways of increasing, sharing or rapidly creating value?
How do we provide people with the means and tools to create their own solutions?

Let's add your questions and explore co-creation routes.
