The coCreationcamp Brussels 2026 is taking place at the ArBA-ESA, Académie royale des Beaux-Arts, rue du Midi 144, 1000 Brussels in the Food Design classroom.
coCreationcamp Brussels 2026 – Sound is the entry door into Food Systems. The coCreationcamp session will begin with some interventions and provocations. And then, we will move into interactions and dialogic explorations.
Cooking With Your Ears: From a Composer’s Mindset
This talk aims to present several foundational elements of musical language in order to stimulate an echo within the culinary fields and food systems: for example, the structuring of time, the interplay of tension and resolution, and the awareness of our acoustic environment.
Can our creative tools resonate with food practices from the kitchen to the table, from the field to the fork?
By drawing open analogies between musical composition and food transformation, the goal is to share different perspectives, provoke our senses and spark the imagination.
Stéphane Orlando composes for film, opera, and the scene.
Currently composer-in-residence at the Grand Manège in Namur (CAV&MA), he is developing a series of ambitious vocal and instrumental projects. This follows his residency with the Liège Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (2022–2025), where he explored a vast symphonic spectrum ranging from musical theatre to a bassoon concerto. His work was honored in 2020 with the prestigious SABAM for Culture Prize, and in 2023, he received several international awards for Best Original Score, notably in San Francisco, Tokyo, and Toronto.
An expert in the relationship between sound and image, he has accompanied silent films at CINEMATEK since 2001, with over 500 live performances to his credit. This mastery of improvisation shapes his pedagogical work: he teaches improvisation at the Geneva University of Music (HEM) and co-presides over the European network IMMSANE.
A musicologist (ULB) and graduate of the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Mons, he has served as President of both the Belgian Society for Music Analysis (2009–2016) and the Forum de la Création Musicale (2015–2023), maintaining a long-standing commitment to the vitality of the Belgian musical landscape.
